The Hilti IT Competition (ITC) is an annual competition that encourages students of all disciplines around the world to develop innovative IT solutions to overcome challenges faced by the construction industry. For students, it is a great way to showcase one’s ability to implement a solution in a team environment.
A group of MSc Finance students began the spring holiday last week in western Germany and concluded it in New York City.
Part of the educational journey is a program regarding "cultural appreciation" of the host country. In this case this means diving into the cultural heritage Hong Kong has to offer. Part of the group chose to visit the famous Tian Tan Buddha and the Po Lin Monastery in this context.
When invited to teach at the International Summer School at the University of International Business and Economics in Beijing (UIBE), October 2017, I felt a real mixture of emotions. As an experienced traveler
of Asia, the prospect of spending 14 days teaching a class of 60 rather passive Chinese students, albeit
with one or two active exceptions, while staying in a modest hotel in 35 degrees heat and up to 97%
humidity was less than thrilling.
The educational journey 2018 of the University of Liechtenstein led us across the Atlantic to the financial metropole of New York City. During the five-day programme, we visited various major corporations like the US branch of LGT Capital Partners, the private bank Brown Brothers Harriman, the law firm Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher as well as other institutions like the headquarters of the United Nations and the Ivy-League University Princeton.
